Globalisation is a widely debated topic worldwide. Some people may support it and some may not. The people who support it believe that globalisation has allowed countries to progress and increase the standard of living. On the other hand, those who belong to the anti-globalisation camp feel that the benefits are not felt by everyone, such as it making some individuals and countries worse off.
As for my stand on the issue, I would say that I have a neutral stand on it as globalisation has its own pros and cons.
The positive effects that resulted from globalisation would be the improvements in standard of living, the increased awareness of foreign culture and better environmental management.
As for the negative effects, such as the widening income gap between the rich and the poor and thus leading the poor to suffer with the growing standard of living, the loss of local culture and environmental degradation such as the contribution to deforestation and global warming.
There is also a point which has both positive and negative impacts, which is the increased competition among nations in investment and market and talent. Too much competition may lead to a loss, or if the quality of the country is good, profits would go to the country, therefore this point applies to both positive and negative impacts of globalisation.

My Favourite Food
You will never believe what my favourite food is. I doubt that anyone of you know what my favourite food is. Care to make a guess? Well, my favourite food is...
Fried Lizards on a stick-
I know you are probably thinking that i am joking. But no, i am not. I have just tried it a few days back, and i fell in love with it from the first bite!
Obviously i am kidding! But it would be cool if it was real right?
My favourite food would be the Hotdog bread at Ikea's Bistro. A fat, meaty chicken sausage, sandwiched in a hotdog bun toasted to perfection. You can never go wrong with it. Everything about it is just so perfect that after sinking my teeth into it for a bite, i feel like i have just died and gone to heaven. However, i still adore a lot of other food, namely japanese and korean cuisine.
The fat, meaty chicken sausage, which is floating in a pot of hot, boiling water, is being picked up and plopped onto the oh-so-perfect hotdog bun before being served. I think i love the bun more than i love the sausage. Or maybe, they just seem to complement each other too well.
As i sink my teeth into the delicious bread, i can feel like slight crunch on the surface of the toasted bun before reaching the white, fluffy goodness of the inner bun.. and the juice of the sausage would flow into your mouth tasting so good! It's like ahh...--bliss!
Not to forget the condiments that make the hotdog bread a whole, ketchup and mustard!(or chilli if you prefer, but i would still recommend you eating it with ketchup.)
The condiments, or sauces as everyone calls it, are placed at the end of the queue in hanging dispensers with an attached tube to squeeze them out, which distubingly, resembles someone squeezing milk out from a cow.
It really complements the hotdog bread. I would urge everyone to try it, if they have not, and to eat it again, for those who have already tried. The set consists of a hotdog bread and soft drink that is refillable(i presume, for everyone refills). And guess what's the best part of it? The set is just SGD$1.70!!! Where would you find such a great deal?!
Long live the hotdog! *kowtows*
P.S. Here's some pictures, enjoy!

My First Day of School in Secondary 1 2005
I remembered feeling very excited and nervous at the same time. I met my friend, Li Li, who had been in the same primary school I was in and who had also been posted to the same secondary school, at the pre-arranged bus-stop so that we could go to school together and have each other's company.
At last the bus came, after what seemed like forever. It was packed! It was so packed that everyone seemed to be sandwiched like sardines in a can. My friend and i were standing at the door step. As the driver closed the doors, her foot got stuck and her shoe dropped off!! We were trying hard to stifle our giggles while trying our best to retrieve the shoe as it had dropped into the corner. The rest of the journey to school felt really uncomfortable and embarrassing.
After getting off the bus, we walked to school and stood outside the hall with other friends of ours in primary school that we met. We all jabbered on how exciting secondary school would be.
After talking to them for a couple of minutes, I realised all of them had a collar pin on. So I asked them about it. It turned out that it was part of our uniform and I had no idea about it! Thankfully, one of them had an extra one and so i borrowed it from her. I was so thankful for having friends around in the same school!
Soon we were ushered into the hall to sit in our classes. I sat besid emy friend and I remembered sitting behind two of my new classmates, Karina and Rabiatul. Karina was around my height or slightly taller with an average build, whereas Rabiatul was small built.
We attended assembly and afterwards, the teachers, such as Mr Koh, the HOD for CCA/PE briefed us on the school's motto and balues. We sat in the hall for quite sometime ultil my body ached. I do not think I have ever sat for so long.
Next, we proceeded to our classrooms and we had to sit in index order. Our form teacher then talked to us and helped to familiarise us with the things going on in the school. We also did some paperwork.
Later on in the day we also played ice breaker games led by the student leaders or better known as the student councillors of the school. We played games like whacko and dog-and-bone.
We kept playing icebreakers during the rest of the day and before we left, the councillors demonstrated the "mass dance" they were going to teach us to dance.
After everything ended, my friend and I went home together. And that jus about sums up my first day as a secondary one student.

Letter to Mrs Yeo.
Dear Mrs. Yeo,
How are you currently? What have you been up to these few months? I miss you loads! I hope you are feeling better now. How’s 2008 so far for you? Are you preparing for Chinese New Year yet? I’m feeling really excited about it! Are you?
What would 2008 mean to you? For me, it will be a very crucial and special year. It will be my ‘O’ levels and my last year as a secondary school student! I cannot wait to graduate and study at a polytechnic or at a Junior college. However, ‘O’ levels would mean lots and lots of homework and revision. Not to mention extra lessons almost everyday after school!!
Lessons have been going a lot faster than the previous years, homework is all piling on and time seems to tick away faster than normal. I find myself wishing for more time every single minute. It really is hard to find time for myself nowadays.
School curriculum changed a little too this year! Morning assemblies are 10 minutes later and on Thursdays, school starts at 8.30am! I think Thursday s are awesome as we get to sleep in a bit later!

Being in secondary four now, our classes are held at level 6! As much as being on the top floor feels really superior and tall, however it’s exasperating to climb up 6 storeys every morning, don’t you think so?
Besides that, we finally got to sit in the gallery! However, it’s pretty much uncomfortable sitting there for longer hours, as sitting cross-legged in the hall last time wasn’t that straining on our backs.
Our class had also become smaller after last year. 7 of us were retained or channeled. Therefore, we have only 25 pupils now currently. Maybe it’s a good thing, or maybe it isn’t. However, we do get to concentrate better with a smaller class.
Last December during the holidays, some students went to Shanghai for an exchange programme with the Shanghai students. They studied with them and also lived at their homes. There were 3 people in our class that went for the exchange programme. They are Wen Hao, Benjyamin and Charles.
As part of the exchange programme, the Shanghai students also came to Singapore to do sightseeing and study with us. They came here for 2 weeks and today is their last day.
I shall end my letter here. Do take great care of yourself, Mrs. Yeo! And I hope to see you again!
